Is “Abuse/Breakdown” Porn a new genre?

I had done my research and looked at the site. It look pretty damn rough but I was reassured it would be fine…My plan was to try and get through as much of the scene as possible before taking a break. The fewer breaks, the sooner I could get a burger and pass out. Once we started I didn't even make it for 2 minutes before I had to stop. I started on my knees with the male talent literally shoving their cocks down my throat until I gagged an couldn't breath. I had to break because I was ready to pass out. when we started again it was no easier. I was still on my knees an the guys were so aggressive that at one point I literally had to stand up and push with all of my strength to get off of him. there is no point in having a safe word when you can't talk. I was clawing at their legs and slapping their thighs and they still wouldn't let up…

Then they pulled me off by my hair and smacked me in the face so hard it gave me a bloody nose. they didn't even notice that I was bleeding until they threw me onto the couch and started throat fucking me while my head hung off the couch…

I walked back on set and said I was tapping out. They told me that they had about enough footage that they could sell it if they got the popshot so I sat on the floor and finished the scene. For all of that they paid me $200. ***Clayra_Beau_eye

The above is taken from Clayra Beau’s blog (adults only!) recounting her shoot with the notorious Facial Abuse.  I say notorious because the male talent/owners of the Adult Doorway series of sites are known for being the most degrading and rough to their talent since Max Hardcore.  Another infamous scene from the same company involved a Latina pornstar named Elana being put in something they call the “figure whore” until she literally broke down crying in fear.  **(warning…graphic description)

Figure “Whore” (***Warning*** Graphic)

The figure whore involves having the female talent laying across the male talents lap performing oral sex on him and then they shove the female talents head all the way down and lock her down by placing one leg horizontally across her neck and locking that leg in with the other leg vertically making it literally impossible for the woman to move her head and suffocating her with the male talent’s penis.  Elana did was she was told to do and smacked/squeezed the male talent’s thigh’s to let him know she needed air…they did not let up in fact the camerman, known as “Big Red” said… “Big John Macarthy (a famous UFC referee) ain’t here to save you whore”…and kept it locked in until she literally flailed off the couch.  She is then seen screaming and crying out of fear and panic. (it looks something like a triangle choke illustrated below, only the man is sitting , not lying)triangle_choke

Yet Adult Doorway (Facial Abuse, Ghetto Gaggers, Latina Abuse, etc…) is one of the most popular and well reviewed adult companies on the web.  This site which routinely breaks pornstars down physically and mentally and is proud of it is something people are flocking too by the thousands.  The question is, Is this new “breakdown” genere here to stay and will it help or hurt the porn industry?  Arguments for both sides to follow:

It Helps

The argument for helps is three fold:

  1. It attracts a new, untapped audience to the porn market thus bringing in a new stream of residual revenue.

Let’s be honest, porn is all about the money for everyone involved.  Male and female talent are looking to make a quick buck, and producers want to see a high ROI for their investment.  If that means tapping into the semi-sadist market share, so be it
  2. It pushes the bounds of free speech

Another thing purveyors of porn love to tout about their industry is being on the cutting edge of free speech.  The mere fact that hardcore pornography is freely produced and distributed is a testament to First Amendment rights.
  3. It quenches what could be an otherwise dangerous fantasy.

Many directors and producers say that people watching this type of domination/humiliation porn helps quench the fantasy of the viewer, so he or she will not be tempted to go too far with a partner in real life and face possible legal repercussions.  Instead they can watch two consenting adults act it out for them.

It Hurts

The argument for hurts is also three fold:

  1. It attracts new and unsuspecting “one and dones”.

Although some mainstream actresses do participate in these scenes, the overwhelming majority are amateur types who have either never done porn or never done a hardcore scene.  For this reason, when they do these types of extreme scenes, they tend to never do another porn scene again due to the physically and emotional strain on their person.
  2. It pushes the bounds consent.

While many of these women understand the scene will be rough, they are not fully informed of everything that will happen to them. A classic example was detailed in another post…The Dog Dish Dump.  Or the figure whore as described above.  The surprise and shock and on camera meltdowns lead many to wonder just how informed these women were and if they would have gone through with the scene had they known a dish of their own vomit would be poured on them at the scene’s conclusion.
  3. It fuels dangerous and unrealistic fantasies.

Many young men are now watching internet porn.  It is no longer playboy and penthouse but instead it is gagging and anal sites.  And while it is not porn’s fault that under 18 boys and girls are viewing this material, the fact remains that it is being done.  And many young men and women grow up believing this is how normal people have sex when in fact it is a small minority that participate in BDSM/ultra-hardcore sex.  So when reality strikes it can make for a very long and painful path to sexual normalcy in an intimate relationship.

In Conclusion:

In conclusion I believe this type of porn wouldn’t exist were there not a market for it.  And as long as people are demanding it be produced, it shall be done.  I also, however, believe that producers/directors should do a better job of selecting women who will be able to endure these types of scenes.  Intentionally selecting young, inexperienced women is harmful to both the industry’s reputation as a whole and to the women who participate.  That’s my two cents…what do you think?

***note about the $200 comment from Clayra’s blog…to be fair, Adult Doorway did not pay her the full rate (typically between $1500-2000 because she did not finish the whole scene)

The biggest issues for me are safety and consent. Look, some girls get off on rougher treatment than others, and that's perfectly fine, but a huge part of what happened to me was that I was lied to and told that the scene wouldn't be as rough as it looked on the site. That wasn't the case at all, and the girl who spat the lie just wanted to pick up her finder's fee. I've done rough scenes before and since for Kink.com, and I enjoyed those scenes on the whole, but the difference was that they had explicit consent going in. The contracts with Kink are a laundry list of do's and don'ts, where as these guys have a general waiver and rely on shocking a girl with their antics.

The biggest difference then becomes one of respect. At a rough shoot for Kink, everyone respects everyone else, regardless of role. These guys just flip a switch and become total assholes, seeking out ways to hurt their female costars, both physically and psychologically. It's different from anything else I've shot in the "rough sex" genre because they genuinely just do not give a shit. It's as close to rape as you can get in consensual porn and puts all pornographers in danger. How long before they hurt someone irrevocably? How long before government goons come bashing down doors because they're shocked and horrified? The folks at a site like Kink push the envelope, but do it in such a cautious way that they never run afoul of those who would shut us all down. They operate in the light of day around the world and welcome anyone to check out their professionalism. The idiots at Adult Doorway cater to a niche that wants violence instead of sex, which means that they will always have to shoot in the middle of the night in closed office buildings while Jersey sleeps. It's behind me, but I can always hope that eventually no one will see $1500-$2000 as enough to deal with their bullshit.
